TRACC (trauma response and crisis care) for Movements is project responding to trauma in social movements: providing community care, triage trauma and crisis response on the frontlines, & healer training and education to support activists and social movements. We believe that we are in a sociopolitical moment which multiplies the impact of trauma and burnout for activists and community organizers. We see this as equivalent to a public health crisis and one that we, in TRACC4Movements, as healing care providers, have a responsibility to respond to in an organized, ethical and coordinated way.
We believe through supporting the education and training of healing practitioners in social movement trauma and healing response we can build a network of mass mobilizable healers around the country (and includes membership into Canada and Latin America) which can support social movements in their local contexts and respond to crisis needs for healing locally, regionally and nationally alongside pre-existings communities of movement and movement care.
We believe through working in collaboration with healing providers and communities we can support a continuation and deepening of the healing, wellness and care of movements in this moment and beyond.
TRACC4Movements engages in our work in BIPOC/QTPOC-centering framework through our practices, our training content and our leadership. We are deeply invested in complicating the pre-existing narratives around mental health, wellness, and approaches to healing eminating from dominant Western contexts to engage decolonizing and anti-oppressive holistic approaches to healing.
